Border Voices workshops are tailored to the needs of each classroom. In many classrooms, teachers want the poets to come in once a week for five weeks: by spreading out the workshops, the classroom teacher has more time to work with the students on new skills and practices.

Other teachers prefer a swifter schedule – five workshops in one week.

The poets teach the students the song of words, of course – how to craft sounds into beauty.  But they also teach something even more important – how the creative use of language can release wisdom you didn’t know you had. The voice of the prophet whispers inside each child.
